Designed and developed by ZENTECH, the Central Interoperability System (CIS) embodies the progression of the digital economy. As the digital landscape expands, the imperative for a modern, European Standards compliant interoperability system for electronic fee collection (EFC) and other value-added services grows.

Roughly three years ago, ZENTECH and NEA ODOS introduced the CIS concept to the Greek Road Concession companies. This new system would streamline operations between their road concessions and offer the flexibility to interoperate with services such as foreign road subscribers via EETS, parking charges, and ticketing.

The main functionality of CIS  is  receiving from and distributing to  all participating Greek and Foreign toll roads, charging information (user interoperable transactions), user account information (OBU status and money)   as well as  daily, monthly reconciliation of some data to assist in the settlement of monthly interoperable revenue and corresponding invoices.

ZENTECH’s design incorporates a cloud-based Central Interoperability System with an open architecture. Utilizing advanced technologies like Azure Cloud resources, DevOps for project management, microservices architecture, Azure Service Bus for messaging, Docker for portability and compatibility, and Power BI for data presentation, CIS is tailored to be modern, scalable, and future-proof.

The CIS encompasses all the microservices required by both Greek and foreign toll operators, ensuring seamless electronic toll collection (ETC) interoperability by adhering to the EETS standard for European countries and other standards for non-European nations. CIS is compliant with the latest European Standards of 2019, 2020 for EFC architecture and INTEROPERABILITY between TC and SP.
